VettedHome

Terms of use

What we are. VettedHome is an independent UK home information site. We publish guides and tools, and when you send an enquiry we read it and reply by email. We do not pass it to a trade yet. We are not a trade, an installer or a lender, and we are not party to any contract you enter into with a trade. The work, the quote and the contract are between you and the trade.

Who we are

VettedHome is operated by Best Business Loans Ltd (company number 16833937), registered office Cust Hall, Toppesfield, Halstead, Essex CO9 4EB, ICO registration ZC151816. It is an independent home information site, not a trade, installer or lender.

Acceptance and changes

By using this site you accept these terms. We may update the site, its tools and these terms from time to time; the version on this page applies, and the date on this page shows when it last changed.

Information, not professional advice

Our guides, comparisons and explainers are general information to help you understand home improvement work and choose between trades and installers. They are not personal trade, building, structural, surveying, legal or financial advice, and they are not a substitute for a survey, a professional assessment or a written quote for your specific property. Where we cite a figure, grant value or standard we name the source, such as gov.uk, MCS or the Energy Saving Trust, but you should rely on a qualified professional for decisions about your home.

How enquiries work

When you send an enquiry we read it and reply by email. We do not pass it to a trade yet. If that changes we will update these terms first and tell you before your details are shared. Any trade you choose to use is responsible for the survey, the quote, the work and the contract they offer, on their own terms. We do not run our own vetting process on trades, and nothing on this site is a guarantee of the quality, safety, price or outcome of any work. Always confirm a trade's current accreditation, insurance and your own eligibility yourself before any work starts, using the registers we link to, and get everything agreed in writing.

No warranty on third-party work

We do not carry out any installation or trade work and we give no warranty, endorsement or guarantee in respect of any trade, installer, product, quote or work that you arrange yourself. Any dispute about the work done, its quality, its price or the contract is between you and the trade concerned.

Advertising and affiliate links

VettedHome is free to use. No trade or installer pays us for enquiries, and the site does not currently carry advertising or affiliate links. If that changes we will label any such links and update this page. Nothing here changes the price you pay or influences our editorial view or which options we cover.

Acceptable use

Please use the site fairly. Do not scrape or republish our content commercially without permission, submit false or misleading enquiries, introduce malware, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to or interfere with the operation of the site.

Intellectual property

The content on VettedHome belongs to, or is licensed to, Best Business Loans Ltd unless stated otherwise. You may quote brief extracts with attribution and a link back. Any other reproduction or commercial use requires our written permission.

Links to other sites

Where we link to external sites, trades and sources, we do so for your convenience and are not responsible for their content or practices.

Availability and liability

We aim to keep the site available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and it is provided on an "as is" basis. You act on the information at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law we are not liable for any loss arising from acting on it or from any work carried out by a trade you use. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Data protection

We handle personal data in line with UK data protection law. See our privacy notice for details and your rights.

Complaints and governing law

If you have a question or complaint, see the contact page or our trust centre. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
